Hornady series iv specialty dies for 6mmbr remington ???

Met a fellow at the local range today and we got talking 6mmbr.

Told him I was going to make one up this summer..He said he has
a brand new set of the Hornady series iv speciallty dies for 6mmbr REM.
Said if I could use them he would sell them for 45.00 dollars..
Can these be used for what I am building? Standard 6mmbr...Or is there
a difference..I have Lapua brass on order for it...Thanks...

Hate to knock that guys sale but you'd be better off just getting a Harrells sizer and a Wilson seater, the Harrells sizer will be matched to your chamber and for the cost, it's one of the best deals going.

Well, thats why I ask. It's damn hard to get a straight answer from anyone...
I really appreciate you reply...

As for the BR Rem I may not have all my facts straight here but there are a couple varieties of 6BR, there was the original Remington chambering and a later one that's commonly refereed to as the BR Norma or Lapua. The latter brass will not fit into the early chambers but from what I understand it is because the necks are around .050 longer on the new chambering but the body taper and shoulders are the same.

Once again I don't know if that's 100% correct but if it is, a die for the older chambering will size the newer chambering with out issue. Hopefully someone with better knowledge than me will weigh in.

I have a Hornady custom die, it lays in the box. I use a Harrells at 1/3 the cost and it's sizes perfect more than i can say for the Hornady.... jim

You should get the Berger manual, it makes clear the distinctions. If you ordered Lapua brass, you ordered 6 BR Norma. Here is a partial quote from the Berger manual discussion on the 6BR REmington.
"Norma brought out the 6mm Norma BR in 1996, and it essentially forced the 6mmBR REm into obsolescence...the Remington is optimized for standard 70 grain bullets, whereas the Norma is designed specifically for heavier, longer VLD (very low drag) bullets....It was necessary to designate the 6mm NOrma BR as a separate cartridge because the longer VLD bullet gives the cartridge a longer OAL - 2.441" as compared to the Remington's 2.200". This requires that chambers be cut to suit the longer OAL, which means a standard 6mm Norma BR will not chamber in a standard 6mm BR Rem chamber, hence they are technically two different cartridges...."
If you are shooting mid-range or long range, you will want to use the heavier bullets (e.g.,105 grain) , with a faster twist barrel (1 in eight), which means you want 6mmBR Norma.
