Hornady Auto charge is cheating

watch the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2CIbClo93Y

first throw goes over and is correct detected by the machine.

Second throw makes the ugly things.
You can see that the Auto charge change the weight to the target weight.
When deleting the target, it shows the right weight...

not really clever by hornady...

I've got a Hornady unit but wish I would have spent the extra money on a RCBS.
Mine is prone to occasional wandering.
If I remember right the Hornady thinks that's okay to run. 1 grain over your target weight. If I wind up. 1 grain over my target weight I usually dump it into the casing but hold back just a couple granules.
Couple things that have helped me with the hornady unit is to give it a longer warm up time.
I have a straw inserted in the discharge tube.
And I found that if I program the Hornady unit at startup for a longer trickel it is more accurate because of the longer trickel.
Do you know you can program and change the 3 speed settings by holding down the mode button when you turn it on?

No...you have to reset every time but real easy. The longer you hold the button down the more it will shorten the high speed discharge....or....the more trickle time it adds.
It will shorten high speed in 2/10 grain increments......if you hold it down it will show .2, then .4, then .6 and so on till you let off the button. I usually set mine for at least .8 and run it on slow mode to boot.
There is a very tiny and hard to find description of this in your manual on or near the explanation of the buttons. I pulled my hair out till I found this out and know lots if others that have too...lol!

in the newer models, the manual is allready in the box

I`m not happy with this machine.

Sometimes it detect overthrows they are not, or it tells everything ok, but it`s an overthrow...
overall the scale is not accurate and tends to wander!

i think about to give it back and take the Lyman Gen.6 if its better...

Mine works quite well and yes I check against a beam scale of good quality to be sure. Once I slowed the trickle rate it never overthrows. I am happy with mine. I too am interested in the lyman as it is smaller and has more features like storing your favorite charge weights the way I understand it.
