Hornady 75 ELD-M out of Magazine

has anyone used the 75ELD-M in an AR15 from a magazine with good results?

They will not fit. You would have better luck with the 73 ELD-M.

To long as vonb said. If you want to shoot 75 grain, the Hornady 75 BTHP is the ticket.

A friend tried them. I think i have convinced him to stop after about 5 seperated cases. I use the 75gr bthp. Hornady Manuel states do not use the 75 eldm in ar unless single feeding.

I have done it, but I'm using "VLD Mags" that DPMS used to sell; they hold a single stack with case heads in the rib at the back. They allow an OAL ~0.2" longer than standard mags. It wouldn't work well in standard mags because the ogive would be inside the case neck, leaving the case mouth unsupported and exposed to hang up on any handy edge. Even though I could do it, the advantage is too small to worry about for 200 & 300 yards (NRA Highpower) so I use the Hornady 75 gr BTHPs.

Sounds more like over sizing the case i.e. pushing the shoulder back way too far. He's not trying to put a heavy crimp on the rounds is he ?
