Hornady 6mm 105gr BTHP

Was planning on buying some 105gr A-max for my 6/284 . Store was out ,but had the Hornady 105 BTHP with a BC of .530 . Any one have experience with these ,are they seating depth sensitive ?

Make sure you measure them when you change boxes even with same batch. I found a 20 thou variation in bullet base to ojive length going from 100ct box to box.

I shot them out of my 6MM Competition Match out to 850, they shot good, still think the Amax would be the way to go.. But if your are shooting steel they'd work.

They shot best just kissing the lands in my 6 Creed.

Indeed, some lots are base to ogive of .721 to .707.

I only played with them this one day. I started at 100 yards and shot a 5 shot bughole with them. Then at 300 I shot a 5 shot and a 6 shot group both slightly under .5 inch. Then at 300 I shot a 10 shot group that measured .9 something and an 11 shot group that just did break 1". At 850 I got dialed in and broke 7 out of 7 4" claybirds. I was jumping the 105 Hornaday Match quite abit, because I did not change the seater from where I seat my DTAC's. My DTAC's shoot every bit as good at 300 yards still with 3900 rounds down the barrel. H1000 is my friend.

I shot them for slow prone at 600 in my 6mmAR ATC gun. Used just north of 28 grains of RL-15; they shot really well for me.
