Hornady 6mm 105 BTHP

maybe I have found a cheaper practice bullet,,I picked up a couple boxes to ff some BRDX brass and they shot well for that,,,loaded some with 30 grs Varget in my 6BR and at 100 yards I cant tell any difference in them and the 105 Bergers,,,at 98$ per 500 if they will stay on an MOA steel plate I will be tickled pink,,
I will try them in my 243 long range plinker rifle and see how they do,,

anybody had any luck with them just banging steel,,I have a 15 and 10 inch gong at 1,000 yards that would be a lot more fun banging for 20 cents a bullet than 34,,I dont expect them to be 600 yard IBS bullets just something to keep myself in tune,,

shhhh, dont tell everyone about them. You and I wont have something to shoot then as we wont be able to find them anywhere. :D

Exactly what I do. I shoot PRS and send a lot of practice rounds down range. My 2 rifles are in 6x47 and 260. In the 6x47, I shoot the Berger 105 in matches, and 105 BTHP or Amax for practice. I also use a much lighter load in them, "thinking" it might not be as hard on the barrel, plus lower velocity means more wind effect. Good practice. In the 260, I shoot the 130AR in matches, and a cheap 140 for practice (light load also).

The only problem I have fund with the hornady 105 HPBT and other hornady match bullets is that the bearing surfaces tends to be quite long on them. This usually results in high pressure earlier in the load spectrum, and usually a lower useable velocity. But for plinking and practice, they are great.

I bought 500 for winter practice. I brought them up to 2900fps(that's what it likes with 105's) in my 6slr and the shoot just as tight as the hybrids. I did notice it took .5gr less powder to get the speed up. Also at 600 it takes 1-.2 mils more elevation.
