Hornady 223 Superformance 53gr Vmax

I was curious to get a look at this new 53 grain Vmax bullet so I ordered some of Hornady's 223 ammo. The cartridge contains 27.2+ grains of a ball powder, some of it got stuck in my puller, superformance powder, and a nicely shaped VLD looking bullet with the standard red tip. The bullet weighed 53.2 on my chargemaster, measured .835" from the end of the boat tail to the business end of the tip, and the boat tail looks to be the same as comes on the 50 grain version. If I remember correctly the claimed BC is .290 which should fly pretty good I think for such a light bullet. Still can't wait to try some out in the 22-250 when they become available. Jason

Good report, sir.

Everybody wants those bullets. I'm not overly impressed with the velocity number I saw with their load, we're capable of those speeds anyway. That bullet on the other hand, that BC is impressive. I'm wondering if it'll shoot like a typical light bullet and stabilize right away or if it'll take 100+ yards like a VLD.
