Hornady .22 creedmoor ammo

New info. Hornady has submitted 22 creed. for SAAMI approval. New ammo will be 80 gr ELDM and ELDX and sold throught Horizon.
Velocity said to be around 3300fps out of a 24" barrel.

I think it’s great I’m going to use them bullets but not buying ammo I reload my own rounds. Most people on this site reload their own especially because it’s a wildcat .

I also load mine and was looking forward to trying the eldx. It should have a thicker jacket than the m. Wonder what kind of deal they have with Horizon?
At least we will get pressure tested data to guide our reloading, not the 70 to 80k internet data.

The factory loads will be under pressure and velocity, Derrik with Horizon loads his hunting loads with the 80gr. eld-m's and gets 3350 fps using 4831sc in his 18" barrel.

If they came loaded with 88’s or 90’s id be more interested. Im glad it wont be a wildcat anymore, but I wont spend $2 a round for any ammo I shoot more than once a year.

My guess is the factory loads will be right at or close to max PSI for the case.

3350 from an 18” barrel is probably in the 75-80k pressure range.

Not that I don’t load my stuff over pressure, but that type of velocity won’t be found in the factory ammo at 60-65k psi.

Hornady stated that their pressure will be in the 59k area.

Agree, his load is way over pressure limits. He is a sophisticated loader but many seeking those numbers aren't. Someone should ask him his pressures for the record.

I’ve been shooting 75 and 80 grain Amax in mine. I’d be curious to try an 80ELDX.
