Hornady 180 ELD-M loads

Looking for some load data or preferred seating depths for the new 180 eld's in a 284 or 284 Shehane.

And if you have tested these, do they work with a .220-.225 freebore that is typically used to run the 180 hybrids ?

A buddy is shooting them in his 284 and really liking them. His freebore is 0.235 and he is jumping them 20 thousandths. The best groups so far have been at 55.5 grains H4831 SC which yielded a MV of 2755. He thinks he can continue load workup and get them as accurate or better in the low 2800's but is loving the bc, which he validated out to 1600 yards at 0.385. I have a 9 twist so I am out of the ELDX game until I rebarrel.

Seems awful slow! I'm testing them in a 9 twist with a 27 3/4" barrel and with 54.2 I'm getting 2790-2800 with a .225 freebore and .003 jump.

Agreed. My new lot of H4831SC is 67 fps slower than my last one for the same charge. His burn rate is on the slow side and he is definitely not near max. It just shot so well there he left it alone for the last match, which he won hands down.

I find this all interesting, I shoot a 7mm nighthawk with a 9 twist and .165 freebore . I have been working on the eldx and m with H1000 and .10 jump . So far the eldx has not been as kind to me as the m . At 2750 the m will settle down to 2 inches at 500 so far . By looking at your data I may not be running enough free bore . Feman says with a 9 twist he is out of the eldx game ? Don't know for sure what he meant by that. Would really like to make these bullets shoot. Any information is appreciated. Ok I missed the 180 gr part so now I understand what Feman means. I am shooting the 162 gr bullets so please disregard my information. Thanks.
