Hornady 108 ELDs competition worthy?

It seems like many are gravitating towards Berger's 105 Hybrid and Sierras 107 or 110 for 6 Creedmore or similar cartridges, in competition. Is anyone using and liking the 108 ELD?

I am still testing the 108 ELDM, but so far it has not been consistent enough. Seems to be a bit finicky about depth. My Sierra 107's are just the easy button for my XC.

I'm about to start testing 108's for f-class, have you found jumping or jamming, the best place to start?

Spook, I would start with about 10/thou jump. When I got too close they really opened the groups to 3/4 at 100. Went back to a jump and they got better. Still fooling with them some. Shoulder surgery slowed my process.

I'd be inclined to run the Berger 108 as opposed to the Hornady. I have never found Hornady consistent enough for F-class.

I believe in another forum post unless I dreamed this someone had shown a Target indicating that the 108 had shot very well for him.

I shoot them in my 6 Creed but in PRS matches but in testing they have shot very good groups out to 1000 yards. Around 6-7"at 1000 yards. Load them at .020" off lands.

I am just about to start load development with my 6 creed, would you mind sharing your powder / load preference for the 108 eldms?

Actually just using factory ammo and at factory length in my chamber they are .020" off the lands. I have everything to load for them and it will be with IMR4451 or H4350 as many I have spoke with and trust use one or the other just like the 6.5.

I would be loading for them sooner but I also moved and now have all my reloading room in boxes and need to build a bench so factory ammo for now.

Yup it needs the .183 SAAMI freebore to site nicely in the case. The real tight freebore aome use with the Bergers will stuff it.

I’ll be following this thread with curiosity. I recently purchased 108 Berger’s for use in a 6XC. The SMK 107s that I’ve sorted and am currently shooting seem to have more variation than I expected. Hopefully the Berger’s won’t vary quite as much.
