Horizontal stringing

Approx <1/2 high ~1 wide. 100 yards
Wind
Holding /rest
Seating depth
Rookie error --parallax not correct for first 2 groups shot (6 plus groups)

Wind. Survey tape at 0,30,110 yards sheltered range, tape angle less than 45 degrees tried to shoot in my conditions <20 degrees
Holding /rest. Loaded bipod with rear rabbit ear rest ( kinda, worried I was trying to hold/push down into the bag more than pull into shoulder ....)
Seating depth --I have 10 of one and 15 of the other load ready. Maybe seat 5 of them a little deeper try .040 off instead of .020 off ?test again
Prob rookie questions, but I am am on medical leave and on drugs, so no shooting for me, just thinking about what to do next. And polishing my trigger guard, cleaning barrels, reading Internet, yea sleeping TOO
Thanks

Hey Troy... "Normally" when that sort of thing happens it is wind! However, there are a few other things to look at too.. 1.) You stated you were shooting from a Bi-Pod. If you don't have one of the "Competition" models, the "digging-in" of one of the legs or the other can create that situation too; 2.) The "sliding of the rifle" REARWARD on the rear bag, if not sliding STRAIGHT back can cause such a problem too; and finally 3.) the rifle may not be bedded exactly right with pressure on one side or the other... There are, I am quite sure, MORE reasons than just those, however, they are probably sitting at the top of the list...

I had a similar problem with a 6BR......what are you shooting ...or did I miss that?

My problem was solved by a site member who said I was loading too LIGHT. He was correct. My light loads were producing targets that looked like this = ...............
Upped the load ( gradually)and I watched them come together, of course looking for pressure signs which did not occur.

Interesting that you mention loading to light. I was testing some loads the other day and loaded light as it is a new bullet and I have no good load data. That, and a friend had pressure signs with the bullet at much lighter loads then similar bullets. Groups were horizontal about .6 moa and vertical was closer to .25 moa. Normally this gun holds about .25 and horizontal has never been an issue. Kind of surprised me. Should be interesting to see what that bullet does as I increase the powder charge.

It is a .308 700 sps tact. The bedding worked well for few hundred rounds already. However action was removed and put back , same torque specs as my other loads in this gun(45in lbs iirc have it written down)
I will remove again and look for any thing, not where it should be debris or whatever.
The new loads waiting to shoot, are slight diff charge 46.0 vs 46.1 in reloader 15. And 46.0 vs 45.7 in the varget.
Trying to simplify. Not sure but it might be the first time at the range my equipment(moderate $ stuff) was working better than me .

Ps I wish it was the wind. That mean my gun posted. 4 different five shot groups in the .4's I am not that lucky. My wind reading needs work, but at 300 600 + , not with this range at only 100
