I'd just like to drop a line on here for all those 6.5x284 shooters who are in need of a hand. John Hoover is more than willing to help anyone in need. My custom built 6.5x284 has started to shine with the help of John Hoover.... the 6.5x284 King himself. He basically walked me through every step of how he preps his brass and some load data to start with.
I am using his prepped 142g SMK's. Meplat's trimmed and re-tipped. Sorted by base to ogive and purchased in lots of 500.
I had one perfect 200 practice string last month with his prepped bullets.
This weekend I shot my best match yet....
199-12x (blew a perfect 200 with a 9 on the last round!!)
197- 4x (tough mirage conditions)... I was actually proud of this round as many High Masters shooters even had lower scores.
197-12x (some close 9's my scorer reported within 1/4" of 10 ring)
I'll take a 593-29x for my season opener.
