Hollywood Press Collection

Nearly thirty-five years ago I went up to Salmon and visited Elmer Keith at his home. He had upgraded some of his presses, and I was able to buy a Potter eight stage rotary press set up for both 38/357 and 44 Spl/44 Magnum, and a 1939 Hollywood.

I traded the Hollywood to a collector in Pendleton, OR, for 1200 pounds of sheet lead. He told me that mine left him with a collection of all of them, but one.

It is snob appeal for some people because those presses were never very popular and were very expensive.
The funny thing is they do not have very good mechanical advantage so they are not nearly as functional for FL sizing as any common press with compound linkage.

Never heard of these. What makes them "worth" 14 K???

They are like the new RCBS, the Summit, I think it is called. As far as I know, the Summit is more or less a copy, or version of some of the Hollywood presses.

Hey!! Free Shipping!! jd
Very good press, if you have a chance to use a Hollywood you will appreciate them. I mainly use mine for sub gauge shot gun reloading, sufficient mechanical advantage for resizing very large cases. If anyone has a picture of the metallic care holder adaptor I need would appreciate a reply.

I have one under one of my shop benches.
