Hold over/under chart

gcabrera

George Cabrera
Wanted to share this chart I made in preparation for a prarie dog hunt next week.
It is made for a 55gr V-Max,.224) at 3280fps, with the scope zero'd at 250y.

The red dot graph plots the hold-over/under you have to use at different distances.
The distance between the dash and solid graph is the windage for 10mph cross wind.
The embedded pictures are intended to be used as "praire dog" units of measure, to make it more usable in the field.

Enjoy!

Try this, and maximize image once it opens, hover over the bottom right corner, and the expand botton will show up):

Let me know what you think, any idea how to improve it is welcome.

George,

I think that's very cool. :thumb:

If anyone's having a problem seeing the chart. Click on the attachment below. I resized it to 800x500 for those with smaller screens, but you should still be able to see all the values.

I think this is very valuable in helping folks understand what's going on in the field. And you can definitely hit multiple targets quicker if you hold-over/under rather than click back and forth for different distances.

I have tried click type holdover charts, but I frequently loose track of the number of clicks. I made this chart which represents a target turret for a Leupold. My gun is sighted in at 100. I just dial the turret to match the corresponding range. It works for me.

I have a blank one I can email if anyone wants a copy. I also have one for a Nightforce.

Ron that is also very cool, and clever. :thumb:

And I agree that is more user-friendly than trying to remember clicks/up down from a start point.

I would point out for readers that Ron's system means you have to adjust your turret scale to start at the 100-yard zero. Otherwise the 100-yard position would be somewhere else on the dial, other than "0").
