Hold Carbon Barrels Without Leaving Marks?

So far I haven't been entirely successful in not leaving marks on the carbon using brass tipped screws. I wrap the barrel with drywall tape or card stock as well.

What is the best way?

a brass split collar will do the trick at the muzzel.it will spread the load and stop your brass tips.'point' contacting the carbon.

On the muzzle end of the carbon barrels I've worked on I've made a taper bored sleeve out of delrin or some sort of plastic that matches the taper of the barrel. I cut a split in it then slide in on the barrel and just grab that in my 4 jaw chuck.

I have 1” wide copper sheet/strip maybe .035” thick that I wrap around the barrel and cut to length. With carbon barrels I’ll put a wrap drywall tape under the copper.

So I have solved the issue by using drywall tape and half inch wide by 1/8" thick aluminum pieces bent in a L shape. I am not entirely satisfied with my work holding yet, but I am close.
