Hog hunting in CA

Hi all,

Can anyone help a first time hunter in CA? Looking to hunt hogs, and coyotes mostly in Southern CA and San Diego county. I'll use either a 556 or a 308. Most likely a one day trip. Where are the good locations? Thanks!

Nothing wrong with Cali, come on out. Try Big Horn Ranch in Riverside, CA. Right in the middle of your target area. They have Russian boar, feral hogs, exotic sheep. It is as rugged as you want to make it and very reasonably priced. Lowest in the state that I know of. It is the only place I know where one can show up in the afternoon and have an excellent opportunity to bag what you want. Other spots close to Los Angeles include Tejon Ranch and Twisselman Ranch but you will need more than a day in the later two and the Tejon Ranch prices are steep.
Personally I would go with something larger than a .223 if you want to anchor one. The ranges here are averaging 150 yards or more and the hogs upwards of 150-250 pounds. 300 is not uncommon.
Good luck!
