I recently bought a used Sightron 36X scope with the Hoehn modification; Delron screws that offer the option of locking the reticle in place. Is anybody here familiar with this modification? I have a couple of questions relating to my profound ignorance on the subject, as follows. First, does this modification affect the nitrogen filling? My club shoots year-round, and I'd hate to find internal fogging in the winter. Secondly, the screw for locking the vertical adjuster is pretty long and, when I back if off enough to make elevation adjustments it can hit the receiver. I'd like to pull the screw & cut the head back a bit (it's pretty thick), but I don't know what happens when the screw is removed. Of course, I could, if worse comes to worse, buy taller rings, but I'd really rather not. I'm working around the problem for now with inserts for my Burris Sig. Zee rings, but the best I can do is gain a few thousandths clearance. Thanks in advance!
