Hodgdon Powder

I just got back from the Grand American Trapshoot in Sparta Il. Didn't shoot just went up for a couple of days to see some old friends. While there, I stopped in the Hodgdon building and spoke with the rep there.
I asked if they had anything new in the works and he said they are working on a new powder that will be coming out of Canada and will be in the burn rate range of H4350. He didn't say anything about a timeframe. Anybody else heard anything?

Haven't heard about that. I am at the Grand now no alliant people here at all.the only load data books are 2018.

Hybrid 100 is about there.
HV100 is a great powder for hunting. But it is almost like your "run of the mill" ball powder. It produces excellent velocity and good accuracy. However, it's main drawback is that like your typical ball powder, it is pretty temp sensitive. That does not equate to a good competitive powder. Long shot strings, hot barrels and varying temps throughout the day demands a very temperature stable powder. Hodgdon "Extreme" line and the new Enduron and the new Alliant powders exhibit good temp stability under those aforementioned stressors. It is yet to be determined about the NEW Viht powders. But time and testing will tell that too.

Burn rates are not my go to way of selection.
Universal and tight group are miles apart but they both make great 9mm pistol powders.
I don't know enough about rifle powders to say about them.

I need a powder that's larger for a 6mm creedmoor. H4350 when loaded is at accuracy node is at about 75% case capacity. I would prefer to be at 100% .
I think that one of the reasons that a Dasher is such a good cartridge is because case capacity is limited and to be at a fast enough speed it needs to be full 100% . I'm not certain what another H4350 will accomplish unless its different in size.

Last post gives a link to a VDM chart, use the Nosler load data site to see what powders give what % of load density with what bullet seated at what COAL
Example; a 223 with a 52/53 seated to an OAL of 2.260 has a 100% load density with 26.5 gn. of 748, or 27.0 Gn of TAC
Interesting what the 6CM shows. All of it boils down to using load density and burn rates is an educated S W A G

RL 16 is a bit larger but not bulky enough to be at 100 % case capacity without burning the barrel.

Interesting. I'm about to try this powder in a new 6mm CR. According to QuickLoad 38 grains is roughly 90% case fill while the 40.5 grains (right near max) is 96% fill.
