Hodgdon Extreme and 8208XBR

These powders are manufactured by ADI in Australia. For the last couple of years ADI has been having production issues and has posted news articles to that effect. Since ADI powders are easily identifiable by their color, has anyone noticed a change in any recently purchased and identifiable lots?

I don't know how much the EU Reach issue (reformulation) may be playing into this or what else may be going on. What I am concerned about is whether Hodgdon may or will be changing the sourcing of these powders, either temporarily or for the long haul.

I believe this is the lot number identification for these powders:

first digit - package size (1 or 8 #)
2nd - 7th - month, day, year
rest - lot number

Is Hodgdon Varget just ADI AR2208 relabeled? Similarly, is IMR 8208XBR just ADI Benchmark 8208?

Those powders are around. I saw quite a bit of 8208 recently. You have to keep looking since it sells fast. Ive noticed its been some time since the IMR Enduron powders have been seen. These are REACH compliant and could possibly be getting much more popular in the EU.

I'm sure ADI is working to meet EU demands as well to compete with the world market. With that said, as Hodgdon tests new lots and sets new standards for powders such as Varget, a name change may result. I would think that any marked changes in color, burn rate, and maybe even granule size could result in a name change to prevent any confusion. As a shooter that started with the old military surplus powders, it's a welcome change!

Here in Australia we are not really having any supply issues other than the h4227 hand all the pistol powders as they are not making any .
the powder has changed does not smell the same does not look the same and the results especially were what we call ar2209 you call h4350 the results on the chronograph with wider es than before still accurate but only time will tell .
I have some old lots from years ago and previous testing and testing todate it has not changed I think with this new recipe I don't think it's going to store as well as the old lots or be anywhere near as consistent lot to lot .
