HODGDON BENCHMARK

Anybody tried Hodgdon benchmark in the 6br?
I know its higher in burn rate than Varget or RL15 and Will have to reduce by 2+grains.

Any info would be great.

Haven't tried it but with very light bullets like say 58 grainers maybe, but its probably still too fast for top efficiency.

I've had good look with it behind 75 Gr Vmax's. Seems too fast for 105's or 107's

I played with it a little bit and I can tell you it won't work with the heavy bullets, just to fast. It's also very fine grained so even with lighter bullets the loading density isn't the greatest. I don't know of anyone using it in a 6BR.
In a 6PPC I played with it with Barts 68 grainers, but kept going back to H322 in my Shilen 14 twist. Other guys have reported good results in their PPC's but most stick with VV133.
All you can do is give it a try.

Tried it a little while ago and shot the tightest 300m groups ever. 107 MK jumping about 1/16" behind 28gr benchmark and 450 primers.

It's not bad but I haven't found a load that's especially accurate yet. With 28.0gr Benchmark/3000fps it shot 1/2". At 29.0gr/3120fps it opened up some. At 30.0gr/3200fps it was about 3/4". 31.0gr/3300fps was a bit too hot and there were fliers. All of those were shot using 80gr Noslers/100 yards and it was all done during the barrel's inital break in. There's room for tweaking, obviously. I loaded only to the even 1 grain. A BR scope probably would have helped too. -Rod-

It is one of the best powders out of my 6BR . I am shooting it with the 70gr Nosler BT in a 1-13 twist barrel . I dont think it will work for the heavy bullets but it is working good for me . :thumb:
