Hillsdale Rifle Club in Hillsdale Michigan will be having a Tri-State (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana) benchrest varmint match on Sunday, September 13th. The centerfire matches are shot at 200 yards and the rimfire matches at 100 yards on the Hillsdale varmint target (example attached). There are both factory and custom classes (30 cal limit) in rimfire and centerfire. Cost is $5 per gun. Lunch is provided. There is a one hour practice/sight-in session (on your own targets) from 10 AM to 11 AM. Rimfire matches are conducted first starting at 11 AM. Match sequence is factory rimfire, custom rimfire, factory centerfire, custom centerfire. You get two minutes for sighters and 20 minutes for the target for each match. Come on out and shoot one or all!
It's a fun match with nice plaques (see attached - these are ones I won in years past) for first place winners and certificates for the first three places. You better not miss by much vertically on the coyotes or horizontally on the chucks because a miss is zero! Hits on the varmint are five points, bulls eyes are ten points and the center dot is one point (for tiebreakers) for a possible total of 220 points per target (two shots per varmint). Best edge scoring is used. Competition will be stiff (see attached target). Many a 6PPC has been sent home with its tail between its legs by this target!
See the club website for range photos and directions.
