Highly visible splat targets?

Anyone know where to get "highly visible splat targets" that you could see from 500yds with a 36x spotting scope? It is difficult to coordinate a second person who is RSO certified to meet at our local 1k range. I'm pretty sure 1000yds is out of the question but it would be nice to go by myself and at least practice from 500.

We use the large Shoot-N-See targets at 600 yards and have no problem seeing 22 cal. bullet holes at 24X power.

I like the Birchwood Casey Dirty Bird targets they have a back on them. and can be removed easy and saved.
I started a Dirty Bird shoot . 300 YD We also are doing a Dirty Bird shoot AR match at 150 YDS.
First shoot I stapled them on. BAD move. Second shoot I put them on with Blue painters tape. Worked good but very intensive
Silicone a small amount on 4 corners and let set over the night was the answer.
I can do 40 targets backers with 5 target on each in about 1 hour.
When the match is done the shooters remove their target and take them home.
500 YDS can be done if you don't have Mirage. In Florida where I shoot that is Slim and None and Slim leave town Early . Larry

I wouldn't think a target larger then 6'' would be needed to shoot 500 YDS If you can't hit a 6'' target at 500 YDS . Why are you shooting that far any way. ;D

Make life easy and get the big (I think 18") Shoot-N-C. The bull is too small on the 6" to get a consistent aiming point. + if just getting dialed in at distance you'll have a larger area - instead of I think I may be on?

I use fluorescent yellow poster paper that I get at Walgreen's or Walmart. As long as there is some good light facing the target, I can see 6mm & up holes with a GOOD 22x to 32x scope. I put a 2" red dot stickum target on it for an aiming point. Have only tried it out to 500 meters but it works for me.

There are alternatives though. ;D http://www.bullseyecamera.com/

I use 18" Shoot-N-C targets stapled to a 2'x4'x3/8" plywood sheet to shoot practice rounds for F-TR. I attach the board/targets to two of those 4' green steel garden stakes using 4 small hand clamps. Before stapling the targets onto the board, I black out all the lines/numbers with a phat black Sharpie, leaving only the red aiming dot in the center. I do this because holes on the lines or numbers can sometimes be hard to see. I have no trouble seeing .223/.308 holes in the targets at 600 yd unless the mirage is absolutely ferocious. Below is a picture of two targets shot at 600 yd with .223 (l) and .308 (r). After I get home I use a compass to scratch in the 6" and 3" 10- and X-rings so I can "score" the target. Using the pastors, I typically get 4-5 uses from one target.

Thanks,
I thought they would work, they are just a little spendy for targets so I wanted to see if someone else was using them.
I havent shot the rifle out to 500 yet so I have no Idea what my actual dopes will be. If I can't find somebody to go pull targets for me the first time I suppose I could just put up 4-6 of the 18"ers to dial in. Then in the future I should only need one target per practice trip.

You can make your own fluorescent splat targets that really light up when hit. Buy the most outlandish color poster type paper you can find...yellow/green or hot pink do nicely. Cover the paper with clear packing tape. Spray with flat black paint and let dry. The splats are larger than the shoot-n-see type. If you don't like making more, you can spray the shot target after pushing the bullet hole flat and they work again.

I saw those on you tube, but I have not seen any after they were shot.

AR-500 steel!

This. The steel will last many lifetimes. Good white paint is cheap per shot and covers very well. Then a 99 cent can of color for aiming points.

Don't need an aiming point.....shoot center mass!! Don't buy the 99 cent can....get the $3.50 can! Covers better and last 3 times longer than the cheapie!! POI easily seen from 1200 yards or better!!

I use the 12" Shoot'n'C Targets at 600 yards. For me the 17" is larger than you need at 600 yds and much more expensive than the 12". They also come with splatter dots to cover the bullet holes so you can get much more use out of your target. A good place to buy them online in bulk is Outdoor Products Plus.

There is a small exploding target made....you'll know when you hit that for sure...its only about an inch wide and 2 inches tall....they come in packs of 20 that I bought from Academy Sir.....BOOM when hit...

This was a problem in the past when the target circles and numbers were yellow just like the bullet holes but they changed the colors of the target circle and numbers to red to contrast with the yellow bullet holes.

Yes for the main painting yes just like I said buy the good paint. I like the dot for aiming. That the 99 cent cans kick butt.
