High BC 5.56 AR bullets

What's the highest BC bullet that'll fit in the mag? So far, seems Hornady's 75bthp at .395 is it. The reviews all sounded positive. Also, any ways to get more room? I've read DPMS once made a VLD mag utilizing the guide channel. If this is a viable option, there's a lot of room there. Read a few comments about relieving the front of the mag?

Which mags have the longest internal capacity. I'm thinking a polymer could have a bit more room due to not needing overlapped metal for spot welds.

I'm pretty sure the berger and sierra 77s are the best thing you can stuff in a magazine. G1 balistic coefficients can be misleading.

I have seen the extra long mags you mention but I wasn't impressed. They were expensive, difficult to load, and not entirely reliable. But, they allowed the use of Sierra 80s out of a magazine. IMHO VLDs aren't a good idea out of magazines because (in my experience) they need to me jammed.

I don't think you can go much longer without sacrificing reliability. I use aluminum 20 round mags with metal followers and keep the ammo under 2.260 OAL. That combo has given me 0 failures over the last 20,000 rounds...

those mags were the LRP mags made by DPMS. they are no longer in production and they were real finicky. you also had to do some mods to the bolt release to work with these mags.

I use my VLD mag. and haven't noticed any feeding issues...but had to shorten the mag. spring and adjust the feed lips slightly to get it to work with my 223AI. I'm using it with 65 JLK Low Drags mostly--

They're hard to find though...but worth it in my opinion. I heard the LRP guy was making them for DPMS, but died, so nobody's picked up the slack yet. Wish somebody would.
