Hi there

As Shooter to shooters , Hello to you all from Slovenia by a former Dutch guy.
You all know that Switzerland is thew most pro gun country in Europe, but what about us Slovenians...
We are not bad off, as a former foreigner it took me about 6 weeks to get my first gun ( Slovenians 4 weeks ).
All the next will take two visits to the city hall and about 5 days per deal, and it can be from a dealer to you or from owner to you.
OK... You have to have a valid membership from a registered club with a certificat you competed, a dockters declaration you are fit to own. The six weeks from before will be used to see if you have any cases on the court inside Slovenia or in your home country.
Thats it, but it doesnt mean you can go hunting or play the armed guard in the hood.

So that is my hello to you all.. greetings from Ljubljana

Henrie

Welcome, Henrie !! It's good to hear you can own a weapon. What can you hunt in your country? Do you have Benchrest tournaments? Are there a lot of "old military rifles" for sale? Welcome from Delaware, U. S. A.:)

Welcome Henrie!
I am more interested in the kind of guns you can own, Shotguns and rifles would seem to be a given but how about military bolt or semi-auto rifles and handguns? Can you use military surplus ammo or military cartridges? How about reloading your own ammo? Is that allowed?

Welcome............So...What type of shooting do you do? What kind of equip. is available to you and is most of your buying of components ect. done on line? There is so much available to us here in the USA with a few clicks of a mouse i am always curious to here how things go in other areas around the globe...Thanks

Welcome & Best Regards
Rick

Hi ..
We will have the world championships Benchrest soon , A friend of mine organizes it in Pragersko SLO. I used to shoot at those .
I am no hunter but the hunters here do shoot deer and wild pig and mountain goats, other animals like bear and wolf we got but have a bulletproof vest from the governament ;-).
We do have military rifles here but they have to be made semi auto to own if they are full auto . Bolt action M48 is difficult to come by, the warehouses are empty. Only some individuals want to get rid of them for prices like new :-( . But... i have heard about a carcano stash.. i will take a few , before its being sent to the USA.

Thanks for your welcome
Greetings

Welcome indeed!
What sort of competitive shooting opportunities are available for you?
Clay
Hi
We do IPSC, IDPA also 25m centrefire pistol/revolver and .22Lr on 25 meter. Long range optics 100 300 400 600 m centre fire. There are .22LR Mini F Class50, 100. 200m, or Benchrest 50m or open sights .22Lr matches. What i peronally like is open sights on military rifle 100m or 300m ( swedisch mauser 1922 doing ok with reloads ). Hunters have their own type of matches , their type of rifles and targets. Every weekend when you want there are matches to go.
For 2 milion inhabitants we are not so unarmed as other EU countries.

Well Rick ..
We do have to go for ammo, powder, primers and guns to a shop, because we have those laws to obey, there they register, but guns from person to person you have to use registration forms to have the gun registered (or written out) in your Gun license booklet.
But for the rest we can buy everything on-line, we even sell online, also overseas.
Full auto is no-go, but we still can buy them when they are made to function semi auto, AR15 or a G3, it will take me about 40 Euro paperwork and one week and the black baby can be brought home, ( if its a Hello Kitty AR15 Pink ofcourse ;-) )
Reloading is restricted to those who have a licence to own a gun and who passed the exam reloading. The reloaders licence is needed for when you buy powder and primers. Equipment, bullets and brass are not restricted. If you decide to reload without a licence the police will fine you. Oh and shooting in the garden or forrest even if you own the grounds is not allowed. You have to make a real shooting erea with all the bells and whistles for that.
Reloading stuff is bought by shooters here in Germany or Chech rep. mostly. This is because those countries have the material on stock. We are a small country and our shop tries to have at least 5 complete machines of Dillon 650 on stock. For bullets we have our own factory LOS we deal in them. CZ parts specialy for the Shadow 2 we got quite some on stock.
Also we have more hunter oriented shops and a few sport shooters shops.. even Raymond Debevec our olimpic medal shooter has his shop with Anschutz Walther and other stuff oriented in his field of sports. You wont find a single centre fire cartrige there but in .22LR he has it all and top of the line products...
Well a bit longer anwser.. hope you are happy..
Take a look at our shop,, all the best.

Welcome Aboard! Always good to be reminded how powerful the 2nd amendment is and how easy we have it here when it comes to firearms. :D

Welcome aboard Henrie. happy to know you all can at least get firearms. Good shooting from Texas.

Joe
Hi Joe Thanks for the welcome from Texas, While we were in the USA 2014 to visit the Shot-show we afterwards went on a trip till Dallas. Unfortunatly too tired and too rushed that last day to go to the Dealey Plaza. It intrigues me how in earth could it all happen there and with a Carcano. I am busy to accuire a few of the short models, there is a secret stack somewhere and i will get first hand choise in a month or two.
Also we were in OZONA that time.. while just visiting this little city we came across a kind gunsmith who showed all and expected nothing. A real treat , he told us, showed us all to a bunch of Slovenians who could never ring his cashier. Nice guy !!
Best greetings
Henrie
