Hi I am a new guy to the forum but not to shooting Help with 1000 yard 30-06 Loa

Hi I am a new guy on here, I am in the middle of a custom build,

I am having built a remington 700 long action in a 30-06, I having the action and receiver trued and a heart barrel. Barrel length is 26' and a 1 in 10 twist. the muzzle is .900 with a slight tapper to 1.250 I am bedding it to an Mcmillian A2 stock aswell as getting some triger work done.

I am hoping to shoot a 1,000 with it, I plan on using Lapua brass and a berger 210, I am having trouble finding a a good powder. Does anybody have any 1000 yard loads for a 30-06
.

Yes,

His name is German Salazar. If you Google him you will find the rifleman's journal (his blog). It is chock-full of great information on 308 and 30-06. He is also active on this board - truly a great guy!

I would also caution that you do some research during your quest for accurate loads. If you don't get enough of the case volume taken up with powder, the load can be sensitive to the powder's positioning within the case. This is not entirely an '06 problem, but people tend to run into it more often with that cartridge.

Best of luck,
Keith

Keith,
thanks for the information. I will look German Salazar.

I am going to add what ever I find for anyone else that is interested.

.30-06, eh? Well, as Keith mentioned, you'll find a lot at www.riflemansjournal.com However, first I would say that you might want to begin with the Sierra 190, Berger 190 VLD or the Berger 185 LRBT and H4350, look for something close to 2800 fps, although your barrel length might limit that a bit.

For the 210 I've used H4350 and H4831sc. Both are accurate but the H4831sc is limited by case capacity and you'll be about 100 fps slower. Might not matter too much, but just worth noting. If you get some Norma brass, most of those loads work a little more easily as it is about 20 (yes twenty) grains lighter than Lapua.
