Hey guys! John question

Sorry it's been a few weeks, been very busy. John had some big decisions to make and I'm happy to say he choose shooting. He quit baseball to give more time to shooting. That is bigger than any of you know. He has been playing baseball since he was 7yo, he said he missed it, but he understood why he needed to quit. He also started shooting trap at our local club. We refer to it as fun shooting, because we don't worry about scores or winning its just for fun, and a grant pays for most of it 1x a week.

Outside of that his smallbore continues to improve. As I told you all I thought he would be back in the 580s by summer, well he came close at 579. This gun is so versatile its taking time to dial it in so to speak. Having a little trouble on the 50prone light conditions. I think I'm going to need to get a filter because light variations really play the devil. It's a learning curve thing. Screenshot_20190423-155923__01.jpg

Help is needed at the Rifle championship at Fort Benning. He is going to shoot air and smallbore. Problem is this picture showing when what is shot is so confusing I can't make heads or tails. If you speak this hieroglyphic language please interpret for me. John shoots precision air rifle in 3p and standing only, he also shoots smallbore in 3p, 4p, and starting 50 prone. PET, WAR, WAP, MAR, are all confusing. So you guys just shake your head at me and teach me what you can.

John did qualify for 3par sporter air nationals based off his 3 place finish in the state Jr Olympics, so going back up in June hopefully we won't get snow this time. Thanks again for everything.... Paula.

PS- anybody going to the NRA. will be there Sat. Screenshot_20190423-154233__01.jpg

You will want to sign John up for Men's 3x40 Smallbore (shot on 22nd & 23rd), Men's Air Rifle (shot on 26th & 27th), and Men's Prone Smallbore (shot on 28th & 29th). Or pick and choose what works for you guys. Men's Air Rifle is 60 shots standing and Men's Prone is 60 shots prone. He'll need at least 700 rounds of .22 ammo and 300 pellets.

I can't remember if you said you've been to Ft. Benning before?? If not -- Getting access to the base can be done on-line I hear. I've never done it that way yet. We usually run down there the afternoon before equipment check starts and stop at the visitor center and register. Just make sure you all have IDs on you.

The first thing you will do once you get to the range is make sure John goes through equipment check (from 9 AM to 2:30 PM on the 21st.) Sometimes it takes a while to get through. Long lines, equipment failures, etc.

PET stands for Pre Event Training. PET allows you a guaranteed spot on your firing point to practice for that event. They are squadded so you'll have to follow the USAS website, sheets of paper tacked up at the ranges, and/or e-mails from USAS before and during the event to tell each competitor when they are squadded. OTR means Open Training. That is usually a first come, first served practice and does not guarantee a spot on your firing point, but it could. PET for Men's 3x40 is from 10 AM to noon on the 21st. Open training for Men's Air Rifle is from 1 PM to 3:30 PM on the 24th. PET for Men's Air Rifle is from 1 PM to 2 PM on the 25th. PET for Men's Prone is from 2 PM to 3 PM on the 27th.

There are 4 ranges at Ft. Benning. A 10m Air range, 25m Pistol range, 50m Smallbore range, and a Finals Hall. The 10m, 50m and Finals Hall are all together. The 25m is a few hundred yards down the road you drive in on and is tucked back in the trees a ways. John will not need to worry about the 25m range but if you get some time it is really fun to go back in there and watch the .22 and centerfire pistol events, especially rapid fire!!!!! The blue highlighted events on the schedule are the finals for each event and most are held in the Finals Hall.

Hope that's as clear as mud Paula o_O.

Wow! I just found out that shooting isn't my first language. :-/
I have shot at Benning. Gave ser # for what I was bringing on base, per clinic instructions.
The folks at that Entry point/visitor processing office acted like I was imposing.

Thanks guys. He won't get to shoot in all of them because we have to go back up to Perry for the Championship, but your translation is impeccable. Thank you so much.

Hey John ! ! Question for you:

How does a shooter do his best in a match?

By shooting THE round in the chamber. NOT the last one, not the next one BUT THIS ONE. :))
Break a leg young fella.
Please keep us posted w the gritty details Mrs Paula - I luvs them.
