Herters Professional Die Set

I was looking at a Herters 2-Die rifle set with a micrometer bullet seating die. Can anyone provide information on Herters Professional Rifle Die Set? I have read that some of the older die sets were not hardened steel.

Mostly just for the vintage aspect of ownership. I could not really find much information on the professional line of Herters dies. I just know they could have been made by CH or other manufacturer. I was hoping one of the more seasoned reloaders could maybe recollect some details about them.

They are supposed to be hardened steel according to the catalog. But everything they sold was "world's finest" etc. I have at least a dozen sets of std. Herter's dies and they're all hardened. I have a set in 219 Zipper and they have the best dimensions of the 3 different die sets I own in that caliber.

Instill have a couple sets floating Round the shop including a set of die for.swaging jacketed swc 45 colt bullets.

The finish on the fl sizer looks crude on the outside. However it is the internal finish and tolerance that matters. Try putting a file to an unimportant spot on the dies and see if it can mark it.
