as long as the church itself doesn't turn a profit overall, they can own stock. It's actually pretty common for people to donate stock to churches.

That being said, it's a pretty stupid move

Since the church is trying to challenge the sec who has governance through the us govt it may fall into separation of church and state so to speak. I guess if they win the church will render decisions on what we can eat and so forth. This is absurd. If the 3rd circuit doesn't throw it out I would guess this is a back door whitehouse driven mandate through the church.
