Well got me new henry single shot 45/70 last monday. Beautiful stock nice lock up. One shot one cracked stock top and bottom at the tang. Has anybody had experienced this on there henry's? I was shooting factory remington ammo same stuff a buddy shoots in his handi rifle. So on tuesday it was headed back to Henry for repair. I guess never know what wood going to do. They sent me a email with paid shipping within the hour i emailed them. So i can't get mad yet but if it happens again?%$#*^%$

If it split at both tangs, there was probably insufficient clearance at the back side of them. I've worked on a lot of single shot rifles over the years. You have to be sure there is clearance there, and that the receiver seats at the main part, rather than bottoming out either of the tangs.
