Henderson Trimmer Question

Just recently bought a Henderson Gen 3 trimmer. Noticed that as you slid the collet carrier forward on the guide rails that it was causing galling marks on the guide rods. They were oiled when I got it and I applied further oil but it has continued to gall the rods.

Anyone else with the gen 3 trimmer seeing this? Is this considered normal?

Thanks

I’ve had two Gen 3s (old and new motor designs, still using the current one) and haven’t seen this on either. I did however have a friend of a friend with one and he let someone use it and they hit or dropped it (I can’t remember) but it made it really hard to push and pull the collet assembly. Todd sent two new rails and the problem was fixed. The rods need to be perfectly parallel for maximum smoothness.

Ditto on Todd. He’s awesome to deal with. Just call and tell him what’s going on. My guess is he’ll send you new rods if he thinks that’s the problem. If it’s not he’ll help you figure out what is a work to correct it.

I have reached out to Todd in the past regarding inquiries on his product and he has always been most responsive. I did send him an email yesterday (Saturday) since I am only home on the weekends and I am sure I will see a response this week.

FYI - here are a couple photos of what I am seeing. Apologize for not posting them with the original email as I did not have access to the camera I needed.

No marks on mine ... slicker than snot. BTW ... I keep mine covered when not in use so it's not picking up anything in the environment between uses.

Thanks for all the input.

I just received this unit a couple of weeks ago and got around to setting it up. Haven't run any brass through it till I can get this resolved.
