Helpful Hint - I think.

If you are a varmint hunter and hunt in mid summer, you probably sweat a lot. Plus, having had skin cancer, I apply sunscreen to my face, liberally.

Often my stock cheek weld gets messy and slippery. Last year I purchased a Beartooth stock cover. They are made of neoprene and easy to install if you follow the directions. The results were very positive. I had a much more solid cheek weld, and I didn't get sunscreen on the stock. Midway has them and they are under $20.

As an added benefit, this winter it was nice to place my old cheek on something that wasn't ice cold.

Maybe it is just psychological, but I seem to shoot a little better with that non-slip cheek weld. You may want to try it.

Get some Niacinimide. I get my little drug store to order it for me, but it can be purchased online from stores that sell supplements. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that supports energy metabolism and cell health (Copied from Healthline website). My dermatologist recommended it and clinical tests indicate it reduces the chance of skin cancer by 23%.

Saw the one with comb riser.
My scopes seem to get higher from bore as I gain experience.
Years back I made a leather one for a high scoped rig. It helped my groups.
Might have just been mental but that's ok.

I agree with this--Higher scopes make me happier
I have been using a couple of pieces of thin yoga mat on my stock for cheek riser and wrap it with the vet or horse tape from farm supply--works like a dream--does not hurt the stock--easy to remove or adjust the tape has a texture to it that adds a comfort factor--and is easy to re-wrap to freshen it up if I slime it with sun screen etc

I tried one with the comb riser inserts and couldn't get those inserts under the cover to stay put.

The one I am referring to in this post is just the stock cover without the riser pads.

Something similar: I have used 1/16” thick neoprene stick on material from McMaster. You can buy a 12”x12” sheet for something like $8 and do a number of rifles. They have thicker and thinner and various types to choose from. Perfect for a chassis to get off the metal.

Depending on your stock configuration & the cartridge, a stretch on shell holder could be helpful & functional.

I run one of those cheap cheek-rest/ammo pouches on most of my hunting rifles. I find them helpful for maintaining a consistent cheek-weld.

The pouch is handy as it will fit a 5-round Tikka mag with plenty of room for other accessories.
