Help

Hi there everyone, im new and getting ready to start reloading for the first time. Im needing to know what i need to load different calibers of rifles, like, a load data for how much grains of powder to use and to get the right size bullets with a ELECT DIGITAL CALIPERS. I have a rock chucker rcbs press and will be loading a 22-250 and a 222 rifle, and need to know how much powder to use and the right size of bullet when im done reloading it. thank you for your time

You will need to buy a reloading manual from Sierra or Hornady or someone similar to get that information. The manual will list different types of powders along with the quantity suitable to load for each bullet type and weight. You do not mention any scale, but you will need one to weigh the powder charge for each case or to set up your powder measure. Both calibers you mention shoot .224 diameter bullets. Each book should have in the front section a how to get started hand loading.

Please find someone near you to walk you through the first time. If you have no experience, having help will save you money and possibly your health.

I second the advice from the first response. Get a couple manuals and read them, when bored, read them more. Learn and understand before you jump in.

You will learn a lot from this board as I have.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Tony

I SECOND THE EMOTIONS OF # 2 AND # 3 RESPONSES. SAFETY FIRST. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS, DON'T DO IT. TOO MANY UNKNOWNS AND VARIBLES. WE WERE ISSUED 10 DIGITS AND TWO HEADLIGHTS. BE SAFE AND KEEP ALL OF YOURS. BILL

Purchase a reloading manual, or two, and read it. Then read it again. Then start by setting up your press, and carefully following ALL of the instructions in the manual.

The most important reloading tool is the MANUAL. Read the manual.

Hi there, iam useing safty first, but if i never try to reload i will never know how to. To be honest im not a reader and from what i have already read on different sites it dont take much to reaload as long as you have the right data for your certain rifle bullets, thats what im going with. Once i find the data for the 222, and the 22-250 i will be able to do it, i have what it takes here with me, just need to know how much powder to use and need to know the size the bullets have to be once i pressed them in my press machine. thanks again for all your help

cbbase34: Ditto to all the above responses. You must begin with a quality loading manual, read, read, read: there is no 'one-size-fits-all' answers. I especially like the Lyman manual,#49 now available), since they sell neither bullets or powder, they provide a great amount of info using all bullets & powders. Many of their accuracy loads are right-on, or an excellent starting point.

'To be honest im not a reader'
In my opinion if you are not willing to read a manual You got no business to reload .
'it dont take much to reaload'

It don't take much to fly an airplane till you try to land.

cb- You do realize that people have been seriously injured or killed as a result of improper reloading techniques...sometimes the shooter, sometimes the bystander....sometimes both.
Get a current manual....One with lots of PICTURES...and since you are not a reader....find someone with experience who is willing to teach you.READING IS FUNDAMENTAL to reloading.
