help with single shot choices

Hi. I'm new here. This is my first post and I leave in the morning for a mountain goat hunt so I may not see the replies for a few days. I am looking for a light, accurate single-shot in the 6.5 or 6.8 calibers, simply for hunting, not competitive shooting. I am looking at the E. Arthur Brown 97D and see there is a range of opinions on past threads. Also, I have no experience with these more obscure calibers like the 6.5 Donaldson Wasp and 6.8 Rem BR Mag and others listed on their site. I want a rifle I can use for all types of game, from coyotes to elk, even caribou and moose if the ranges were right. I have plenty of other rifles and lots of hunting experience, so I don't expect a miracle rifle, but I don't own anything in the 6.5 category and would like to add one. Thanks for all suggestions.

I would buy a Thompson Center Encore receiver and then I would order all my barrels from Bullberry or OnTargetTechnologies. Possibly I would buy Bergara barrels and have them rechambered by Mike Bellm at Bellm Tc's or David at d&t custom.

I absolutely love my Encore, it is very handy in a deer blind.
I keep one in my pickup for use on everything from turtles to wild hogs. My favorite calibers are 7mm-08,loaded with 140grAccubonds) for deer hunting and hog whacking and 223 for everything else.

The reason for aftermarket barrels is that the chambers on a lot of the T/C barrels are not so good. I am just not willing to shell out 240.00 dollars for a barrel of questionable quality when I can spend a 100 dollars more for a Bullbery and have a barrel of outstanding quality and customer service that is second to none. My 223 barrel will outshoot all but one of my bolt guns and it is a fully blueprinted 3000.00 custom job that rarely sees the sunshine, what a waste of money) is what my wife has named it.

Anyway don't let the barrel thing put you off the T/C, with aftermarket barrels they are great little rifles that are a ton of fun.

I would recommend several 6.5 or 7mm calibers instead of the 6.8 due to the outstanding lineup of different bullets in these calibers. I am not saying that the .277 bullets aren't good but there are so few choices.
