help with shooting f/tr

hi guys need some help i have a sako trg-22 in 308 and was wondering is is it capable of shooting up to a 1000 yards and if so what weight bullet and powder would i need to reach that distance. i use at the moment hornaday amax 168 grn bullets and 42 grns of vhitavorie n140 which is very accurate at 200 yards.would be greatful for any help?

155 or 175 Berger or Sierra, either one should work, you may want to try your hand at 600 yds. first to get the feel of the waters before jumping in the deep end.

Just MHO

Your rifle will do fine. If your barrel is 26" or less, 155's may be a bit hard to work at 1K, at 600 they'll be fine. 175's will work for all distances to 1K, but the wind will move them a bit more then a 185, 190 or 210 grain bullets in a variety of flavors.

Check, German Salazar's Journal on loading the 308, the gentleman is a wealth of information. His 308 blog is in five parts, here's the URL for part one.
