New to the forum but have been lurking for a long while.
Been doing long range plinking and hunting for a long while.
I have a Rem 700 and a Rem 700 Varmint SF both in 308 and I wanted to make one of them F/TR compatible. Both rifles are 100 original, less the scopes of course.
I was thinking I'd take the Varmint since it already has a heavy barrel and start with the Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist Style 5 Fully Adjustable stock as it already has a groove for a Duplin Bipod and then get a NF Benchrest 12-42x56 scope mounted with a 20 moa base.
Then maybe later have the whole thing accurized.
Do I have to stay with wood stocks or is the synthetic B&C ok for now?
My other thought was to ask someone to build me a new rifle in 308. Specifically for f/tr from the get go. With that option I'm completely lost though as I've seen a lot of sites that have actions and others that have barrels but not many that sell a complete ready to go f/tr rifle.
I want to keep everything under 3k.
I apologize but like I said I'm new to the world of f-class so my knowledge of the sport is very limited at this time.
Could you please help me decide what to do given the 3k budget?
