Help with 300 black out

Yes he does but it should still function. With that being said you never know until you shoot them. It might be a little faster than stated or by some fluke it might just shoot well enough.
Yes I think you are right about buffers an spring tensions but as far as gun barrels an twist rates since the blackout an 300whisper I have made hundreds of 7twist barrels for both of them I am not a AR guy I don't like the application but a lot of folks do that's what keeps our gun industry going.

Is it pistol length gas system ? Most are to take advantage of the quick powder pressure needed for the operation.
Before you do anything try some slower powder , this will move the pressure further , IF you have a carbine length Gas system , NOT a pistol length

Try some AA 1680. The gold standard for running subsonic heavy bullets. Beware most powders run at a low pressure like this are smoky and dirty.

I have used H4198 and RL7 with success. It sounds like you rifle is under gassed. How big is the gas port?

I used to have a Wilson Combat - I had problems like this. I switched it to a Noveske 16" pistol gas and it runs everything, light or heavy bullets, fast or slow, with or without can. If the port is sized correctly you don't need a adjustable gas block.

CCI SR primers are soft. I agree with some of the posts above...powder choice and primer choice should be compatible. I have used WSR primers with WW296 and Rem 7 1/2 with AA1680. Changing the primer would be as important as the new spring....IMHO.

Steve :)

Looks like AA1680 create about 6,000cup over the h4198. I just don't have any to try. Also will try different primers. Thanks guys!
