HELP Rem.7600 trigger job

carl1575

I am still in the car business after 53 years
Any of you guys know a good gun smith that can do a good job on a rem.7600 trigger, there has to be 50 in PA. there got to be a million Remington pumps there. I cant get any one here or close to Yakima to even (think) about looking at it. I have been told there not the easiest trigger to lighten up. Any names or phone # I will follow up on. Carl in Yakima

Suggest you google "Ernie the Gunsmith"...he has replacement springs that drop in in seconds and are cheap. This is a vast improvement over what you have now and might just be all you need. That is all I have in mine, I did a little grinding on the sear notch, no big deal. Brownell's used to sell a replacement hammer that worked good too. It was kind of pricey, I think it was like around $100.00, but again you just installed it and it was good. I just checked their catalog and it is not in there anymore. Maybe give them a call and ask about it. I think it was Accuracy Speaks or maybe Tubb, it was TIN coated and gold in color. If they still have some they will sell you one.

They need work on the hammer sear surface. Springs won't help the over abundance of positive sear engagement. Not hard but not a job for the inexperienced.

Call Sid Goodling Or Bob green as they are two of the very best along with many others.

This is just hear say, but I had a friend tell me that he thought the trigger group from a Rem. 870 would fit it. If so I wonder if the Timney Trigger replacement for the 870 would work? This is a screen shot of compatability from the Timney website for the Rem. 870 trigger.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!!!
The entire trigger group actually wont work because the shotguns have that big carrier but just about all the guts are the same otherwise.
I went back and looked at the Brownell's catalog and found this...it's not the trigger though it's the sear and it is listed for the shotguns but in the footnotes it says "also fits 740, 742, 760, 7400, 7600 rifles" Brownell's part number is #883-000-022AQ. $96.99 and looks like it comes with three springs and a hex head wrench to do the adjustments. Someone else did make a hammer with the properly ground sear notch, but it looks like Brownell's dropped that one.

I am sending it to Accuracy systems tomorrow thanks for the help Carl in Yakima

Got my trigger job handled, thanks for all your help. Carl in Yakima
