Help - Need to buy a front rest

I am looking to buy a front rest, I would like to stay around 200 dollars. What are some that I have to pick from. Have seen some from sinclair and some made by caldwell for around this price. Can anyone recommend any from experiences?

I would definitely get a windage adjustable rest. You can create some flyers if you have to shift the rear bag around to adjust the windage. The Caldwell is more difficult to upgrade in the future if you go to a toggle top later.

If you are shooting for group only then the windage top is good. If you are shooting for score or high volume varmint shooting then the toggle tops are a huge benefit.

I can recommend the Hart rest as a good basic rest. It is heavy cast iron and heavier is better for rests. There are many of these available used, and there is not much to really wear out. Don't know if you need the expense of a windage top or not. It may be hard to find a rest with windage in your price range. I'd say it depends on your shooting style and what you plan to do with this rest. If you like to align your rifle with the rear bag,bag squeezing) then no need for a windage top. There are some top shooters that still use this method in competition. Also if you are not using this rest in competition then the windage top is not really necessary. I use a windage top when shooting competition but take it off and just use a basic stationary top for my hunting rifles.

I have a Caldwell Rock, but it's just for informal shooting. It works great for what I do with it, and it was cheap. I know several guys who use the Wichita and like it, but I've never shot off one myself. I think for the price range the Wichita is a good one.
