Help! Need Deer Blood Anywhere Near Dayton, OH

GSPV

A failure to plan is a plan for failure.
Hey guys,

I've got a need to train my GSP to blood trail wounded deer to aid in recovery. To do it, I need deer blood. I'm between Dayton and Cinci.

If any of you guys have a nuisance ticket you are going to use, I'd really appreciate the help and would return the favor at some point.

Best,

Greg J.

Greg,,, I see that u live in Ohio,,,,just drive along any road in the state and within 10mi you will see a wounded/road kill/dead deer,,,,,help yourself to all the blood-n-guts your dog needs,,,,,Roger

Thought about that. Would have to find one that's fresh to get blood. It turns out that it dries up pretty quick.

The other thing is that Ohio is persnickty about game laws. The way that I read it, there is no *legal* way to take possession of a road kill deer...and that means any part of it... unless it is via the person that hit it.

I live right between a police officer and an OSI agent.

----

1533.121 Deer killed by motor vehicle on highway.

Except as otherwise provided by division rule, the driver of every motor vehicle that has caused the death of a deer by striking the deer on a highway may take possession of the deer, provided that within twenty-four hours thereafter, the driver reports the accident to a wildlife officer or other law enforcement officer. The officer shall investigate, and, if the officer finds the death has been caused as alleged, the officer shall give a certificate for legal ownership of the deer to the driver. If the deer is unclaimed, the certificate for legal ownership may be given to a private or public institution or charity or to another person.

Greg..you got it made man,,,,a cop on one side and an OSI (Im figgerin thats a game warden/rabbit cop) ,,,while they are out doin their duty evry day,,,they see several road kills....have them print you out a certificate and call on thier cell phone and in 30 min you can be on the scene before the blood dries up...take your pup along for a fresh smell,,he will have more fun than all you guys !!!.....Roger

That is a GREAT idea. I'll speak to him the first chance that I get.

"OSI" is the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. I.e., the Air Force's FBI.

GPS,,,,ooooo and Air Force guy,,,,he can call in a drone strike on some of those pesky deer that are terrorizin the Interstates in your area,,,,ahahhah,,,,,,,you culd park by the off ramp and watch for flying debris as the drone circles overhead !!!,,,,Roger

Most of my ground venison has lots of blood when it gets thawed from the freezer.
If you have any in the freezer give that a try.

rabbit cop... I like that, can't stop laughing.

Get a copy of "Survival Poaching by Ragnor". He calls em 'possum sheriffs'. I use the tern 'fish cop'.

If you have never read that book you should..

In ny state they will give anyone the deer as long as the guy who hit it doesnt want it.The dec (game cops) have more powers than our state police and can march in your house whenever they feel the need.
