help head space savage

hello, need help on step by step head space for savage target action i have a head space guage, but when i load a loaded ammo
the bolt is hard to close, ammo base on seira recomendations),if the turn the action backwards so the action with the loaded bullet will close, the head space guage is not being ejected ?
this is my first time with a savage action, its spongy unlike the remington

Loosen the barrel nut. Put in the go- gauge, and turn barrel in until it just stops turning. Tighten barrel nut. Take out go-gauge and put in the no-go gauge. Try to close the bolt. It should not close with the no-go in there.

You're done.:D

If you still have a problem it is probably your brass prep. It may need full-length sized and trimmed.

yes that is what i did,but when i load a loaded bullet the action is hard to close and close inspection of the loaded ammo reveals marks of the rifling,is this normal ?the oal of the ammo was based on seira reloading manual

Plain as day your loaded to long, the manuals are not a one size fits all.
You need to set the OAL to your set up not the books...
Keep pushing the bullet deeper in the case until it just closes on a loaded round....

Preacher is right, you gotta be loaded too long. Was gonna mention that also, but figured you were seating them at the minimum specs. If you got rifling marks on the bullet you're too long.

Buy an aol gauge and see what the aol is for YOUR setup, then load accordingly.

If you did like I explained in my other post, using both go and no-go gauges), then your headspace is correct. I say this because you said you have A headspace gauge, not A SET of headspace gauges. You can use just the go gauge though, and then add tape to the back for the no-go.

Try like ray-jay suggested and close the bolt with an empty pc of brass. If it closes fine then headspace is not the issue.
