Help finding replacement stock for MKII

Hi everyone,

I've been searching... really! But I can use some help. Please give me some links or contacts to people or companies that make replacement stocks for the Savage MarkII FV 22lr model.

I'll be using it as a 'trainer' for F-class type shooting. I've seen the ones from Boyd's but they are backordered and I hope there are other options available. I like the 'tacti-cool' look. I'm looking in the budget of $200.

thanks for your help.

I could be wrong, but as far as I could determine a couple of years ago, there are only two companies who even make "aftermarket" stocks for any Savage MKII models. They are either Boyd's (main supplier to Savage I think) and Richard's Microfit Stocks. The only issue with Richard's stocks is that they are wooden stocks and not light weight like Boyd's. I bought one of Richard's Thumbhole's in their "Benchrest" model for my TR ($180 95% inletted but needed to be finished) and it is one stout sucker. Had to have my Smith finish the final inletting and he bedded, free floated the rifle and finished the stock. Really turned out pretty but I saw a drop-off in accuracy using the Wolf Ammo she previously had with the Boyd's stock. Put the Boyd's stock back on and some of the accuracy returned, but not to it's original state. BTW, I am talking a drop off of about .100 - .150 in five shot groups @ 50 yds. But I have no idea why the drop-off even occurred because my Gunsmith has 42 years of experience doing these types of changes and builds custom competition centerfire rifles. He's made alterations (both stock and action) to several of my centerfire rifles and his work only improved their accuracy. Go figure, but it made me a bit cynical of changing stocks on any of my rifles, including my Anschutz that I have a new aftermarket Benchrest stock that is sitting in my closet right next to that Richard's Thumbhole. The exception to that would be putting a McMillan on my 6mmbr or my 6.5 Target rifles.
