Hello all

Hello everyone, my name is Bob and I'm new to the forum. I recently acquired an XP-100 in 7mm BR, its in real nice shape and looks to be well taken care of. I am interested in updating the scope, it has a 2.5 x 10 rifle scope on it now with no extended eye relief. What is a good choice of scope for hunting whitetail deer with the longest shot being 150 yards.

Variable adjustment and Extended eye relief is a must with my bad eyes. ;-)

Also can someone direct me to a source for brass, I do not have any ammunition yet. I will also post a request in the sale section of the forum.

Thank you in advance, any input is greatly appreciated,
Bob

Welcome to the forum and we love questions to answer. If you want a decent pistol scope go with leupold if you can afford them or bushnell, and a host of others. The burris used to be made in the USA but alas they are now made in the phillipines at USA made price's.I bought one of the new one's and waited month's to get it and was really let down that they are imports. The older in the last 15 years were very good scope's but anything in the last cople years stay away from.Nikon make's a decent pistol scope but it is hard to find anything with power over 12x.

Welcome Bob

I have one i bought in 1980 for silhouette shooting, was shooting Hornady 168 grain but recoil was pretty bad, switched to 139 Hornadys and H322 powder, shot 3/4 inch 5 shot groups with those components.
It has a 4 power Redfield sitting on it now, had a Leupold on it and it came apart, sent the scope back for repair and it never did work right after that, also had a Leupold come apart on me in a national match, cost me the match win, i no longer have any Leupold's.
I now have Weaver and T/C scopes, 3X9 on all my T/C barrels, i love them, but remember the more power you have the more it shows how much you shake.
I would take my time and try looking through some different scopes and see what works for you, I'm more than happy with my Weaver and T/C Scopes and they didn't break the bank buying them good luck.

A pistol scope is not really needed, look into any of the good rifle scopes in the 3 to 9 to 4 to 16 range and you'll be shooting great groups out to 150 yards....
Who wants to GOOGLE when you can get great answers right here.....

I am not new to Google, part of my research for a new scope has to include feedback from others that have history and input. So I don't recreate the wheel or spend money on products that I do not need. I have learned the input and feedback I receive from posting on forums is very valuable in helping me make the right decisions.

Plus you meet some great people and learn a lot. Just the short time I have been here, I have had various offers for brass and items.

Thanks all, Bob
