Hell of a Barrel!

Being hard headed, I would still pick 30.5.
Why?
I see consistent groups and POI on 2B, C and D. I also see a very acceptable ES between them (even with C having no ES listed). Granted three shots is not a fair representation of ES/SD but 30.5 I would feel good about hot, cold or in between.
I do have a tendency to pick the highest possible node though.
Any way, I vote you keep that barrel safe by never taking to a match. :D

This barrel has been to 2 matches which it won both. There’s the link to the results.

I remember that match !!!!
Well that’s probably what most shooters would do. But since I’m a short range guy I’m very confident where I would load for competition. Which would be 30.42 grains. Any thoughts on why?

Cause the temps @ 8:00am & air density
This will change as the sun rises...
8:00 say temp is 75* / air is thicker/ more moister & @ 11:00 the temp is 88* / thinner air / mirage kicks in..lol
At’s why we tune at range in conditions we’ll be shooting at. Never preload for a match and expect to do good.

That load should be equally well throughout the day, holding in the lower part of the node in the morning & in the upper part in the evening...

Hi Bart
Why did you choose the powder weights between 29.5 to 30.9 to test?
Is that where most BRAs shoot well or was it from previous testing? Did you run up to any signs of pressure at all?
Thanks Don

If a 6BRA will shoot. It will shoot easily with in that range. It’s basically covering two nodes. No signs of pressure.

@BartsBullets. I've been studying your target bullets impacts looks like you have those 103 hammers working.
I recently received this target from a gentleman that was shooting your hammers in a 6BR,View attachment 1182182 an from what I see his pattern resembles a lot like yours.
He didn't have as good as groups as yours but I was somewhat impressed.

I know exactly who that is! Those are 5 shot groups mine were 3 shots!

Bart, at this time I am playing with your 80 grn Dominators in a standard .060 throat 6BR. 1-12 Krieger.

I have the barrel on my HV Neuvo action rifle.

it is looking very promising with Accurate 2495 at about 3300 FPS. By promising, I mean it shoots like a Benchrest Rifle.
