Heaviest barrel on Tikka action

Good Day
I currently have a factory tikka T3 varmint in 308 win
I'm waiting on a 28" bbl
The barrel is a 30mm straight ( 1.181")
Would this be too heavy for a Tikka action ?
There will be a muzzle brake out front so that would add like ½ pound
The weight without a brake would be about the same as a heavy varmint count ( 1.25" shank)

The barrel won't be to heavy.take note of the chamfer on your T3 action.A 30mm barrel at that point will leave a step.27.55mm should blend in nicely.the other alternative is to machine the chamfer back on the action face,to compensate for you 30mm barrel.it doesn't hurt anything.it gives a larger bearing surface for your barrel shoulder to butt up to.

can you post a picture of the stock you are using?

Running a 28" HV with no mods to the action and working well. A little function over form at the tennon but it works.
Could you have squared up the front of the action first ? you would probably only lose one thread .

Some people do. I have several tikkas and other factory and custom barrels and didn't want to square the face and then have an action with odd head space. It works so don't regret it.

I think if your going as far as to square the face then you might as well add a Remington style recoil lug.
