Which is where I say "Yep...more than anywhere else." and my nurse laughs. She knows me pretty well and we sometimes talk guns.

Some people here have drank to much of the kool-aid already. When you say "they are just doing their job" is bullshit!! Just like "they were just doing their job" during covid and scaring everyone and you are going to die if you don't! Its more like we are going to lose our jobs if we don't do what the government, cdc and who ever else says. Instead they should have pushed back and stood up and said prove to us this is safe and we will push it. Instead they rolled over and the general public has payed the price. Especially the older generations. When they seal records for 75 years fuck you I'm not taking it.

I am a registered nurse. I worked bedside adult intensive care and telemedicine from 2012 til now. We ask the same silly questions when doing your admission paperwork.
Unless you are clearly an immediate danger to yourself or others (i'm talking terroristic threats, murder threats, abuse) there would be no reason that anything would be reported because this is considered private health information.
The questions may be silly, but I can assure you that they are just trying to help, no tin foil hat needed for this.

I think one way to get them from being reported at all or someone failing to interpret a joke which many have said they have made would be to not answer the questions at all. I mean I get it, I do. Its a biopsychosocial model where all of healthcare is encompassed all in one package, mental, physical and social, which is great. True overall wellness shouldn't be defined by the absence of disease it should be about the person as a whole. but his nurse doesn't need to know the color of his underwear, or if someone is the house is beating him. Healthcare has become way too invasive.

when they ask when have you had a BM, I normally tell them “ Well I probably had my first one when I was 1 day old” . I’ve gotten both responses “looks and laughs”
Speaking of healthcare…. About 3 weeks ago my wife wrecked a rented e bike and broke her hip. Had hip replacement surgery the next day. The care she received was better than I thought possible and they took good care of me too. She had the staples removed today and is doing well.
The ER has full time security personnel with a metal detector. It was a hassle to check my weapon there and have them store it so I left in my vehicle. This hospital has a hospitality suite for family and I stayed there the first night while she was in the ER. The security guys really took care of me, calling hospitality and walking me there to make sure I found it ok. This was about 11:30pm on a Saturday night.
Sunday morning I went back to the ER security and asked them about the restaurant 400 yards from the hospital that we could see. I wanted to walk but didn’t know how safe the area was. I told them I had my pistol in my vehicle and he told me to either drive or get my gun for the walk. Hospital campus is safe (because of them) but the area isn’t. I walked and had a good breakfast.
I had to sit in the ER waiting room about 20 minutes while they were getting my wife in a room. Kind of a sad place to be….

During Covid it was like hippa didn't even exist. Anyone could ask you anything and allow or deny anything depending on your answer.

this is no joke but my last medicare wellness check on the the form with all the questions one was are you sexually active?what buisness is that of theirs.
not sure why they asked the color of his underwear, but I think trying to help those that might be being abused is pretty important.
So you think when an elderly woman or child gets brought into the hospital with burn marks and bruises all over them we should just not say anything?

I started Home heath 2 months ago, on my Initial interview all the questions ask were to help evaluate my needs. Nothing I didn’t care to answer. All my therapist and nurse or Address those needs as well. On top of what they came for they all have just sit talked. Let me just say it’s been live changing! This may not be the norm but for me it’s been a great experience
Why put words in my mouth? Never said that. However, if a nurse comes into my home and starts asking personal questions about firearms and other sensitive topics I'll show them the door. That's a big difference from a made up scenario that rarely happens

Here is another portion of a study on elderly abuse reporting:
For older or vulnerable adults (abuse by caregivers, neglect, etc.), the USPSTF concluded the evidence is insufficient to know whether screening (with no recognized signs) leads to reduced abuse, harm or mortality.
If someone comes in who clearly looks abused, sure ask some questions, but it's not your job. You are their to treat and release, and evidence shows that what you do helps nothing and can actually cause more harm than good.
However, let's go with what you said and a child comes in with bruises. Who is an RN to interpret anything? I had bruises all over me when I was a kid. Better yet, let's say a child is anemic, and comes in with bruises and you don't believe the parent. What do you do—call the police and let the government take control, yeah, no thanks.
