One advantage to having the headspace set on the tight side is the fact that your brass won't grow as much. Longer headspace makes the brass grow to fit the chamber length.
On the Savage action, it's a matter of screwing the barrel in or out to set it to where "you" want it. I run both of mine,Savage actions) on the tight side. I also only neck size with a bushing die. I havn't needed to bump the shoulders in a long time but I also try each case in the chamber after they're sized. If one gets snug I'll use a body die and they'll fit back in the chamber no problem. I don't think factory ammo would fit the chamber but I've never tried.
I also use a Wilson case gauge and the fired brass will fit back in the Wilson gauge after it's been fired. My brass doesn't grow.
10 to 15 firings with no problems so far. :thumb:
