Headspace gauge for 6ppc bench rifle

What do most smiths us for head spacing a br rifle?? Do they us h/s gauges or brass cases? If there useing cases are they fired cases / resized cases.

Id just recommend a go gauge, and use tape on the back for a no go gauge, you could probably use a piece of fired brass but probably wouldn't recommend it unless you forsure trusted the chamber it was previously used in

It’s nice to have a repeatable standard (go gauge), so every barrel ordered doesn’t have a different dimension. Of course you could request something special.

A ppc go gage should leave some amount of crush fit at the neck/shoulder junction for fire forming .220r brass..but it's a wildcat and several are cut a bit longer than that and there's really no right or wrong answer. It's a matter of how you want it set up and if your dies will bump the shoulders at all if set up at min go gage length.
