Heads up on federal AR match primers

I just picked up a brick of federal ar match primers thought I would give them a try.
I usually use cci# 41 and I like them a lot, but they are not to be had.
The first thing that I noticed was they seat deep into the primer pockets, so I measured them
they are 4k shorter than the cci#41 so for you ar guys check your fire pin protrusion I had to change out
my firing pin for one that had more protrusion just to be on the safe side
like I said just a heads up.

Hmmm...
I wouldn't think .004 would be a big deal. I don't have an AR or know stick out specs.
Remington 700s I think protrude .06

ar protrusion is .028 to .036
my pin was specking out at 0.25 that is below limits.
so if you have a 3k shoulder bump and 4k shorter seating depth
that is 7k and a fiering pin that is 3k below spec that all adds up that is why I swapped out mine
for one with a .032 pin just to make sure I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the primers
I am glad to have them not really happy about the $170.00 price tag but it is what it is.
what I am saying is they seat deep and with a short pin you could have a ftf due to a light strike thats all.

I've shot 1K of them without an issus in a bolt gun and AR. It never crossed my mind that they might be thinner as my fingertip said they were okay :)

I have burnt 18,000 of these with no misfires and more importantly …. No slam fires in my AR.
I've only had a slam fire ONCE in an AR. And that was because my dumb A$$ brain farted and just seated a random primer on the bench into a rifle round. Surprise! It was a pistol primer. I marked the round and loaded it by itself. It went off in a safe direction.

Twice for me, winchester small rifle both times.

I had a flyer from Brownell's today, saying they had SM rifle primers, standard and Winchester #41's. The 41's show 99.00 a brick.

Odd. I've shot thousands and thousands of those (back when you could find primers) and never had an issue. The only time I witnessed a slam fire on a rifle primer was in the Daewoo 5.56 AR style Korean gun. A buddy had a ban era thumbhole stock version, and it slammed one once.
