HBR Scope Choices

Hi all. Was thinking about having a dabble in Hunter Class Benchrest with a factory rifle. Not really concerned about competing, more about just playing with my toys. My question is, what 6x scopes are people using? There seems to be a lack of quality 6x target type scopes on the market. Short of using something older (ie Leupold, Burris etc), what is there available new? Cheers

That's the #1 problem with the class is scopes. There's not alot of there for quality lightweight variables with AO either.
I've used/using as you said, used Burris',Weaver's, & Leupold's. There just isn't enough 6x shooters for the MFG's to build 'em any more.

Basically I want to take my sako L461 vartarg or 222 or Borden dasher and shoot in LV HBR. Will I get away with a 6x Pecar champion?

I only familiar with IBS rules so you'd need to check with whatever you're thinking on attending. i.e.,IBS, NBRSA, or UBR for the specifics.
I don't believe any of them are going to turn you away.
Never heard of Pecar so can't answer that but ....sure why not??

Is Hunter Benchrest not shot over there? You've never heard of Pecar scopes? They are similar quality to Kahles. No longer made. Has anyone had any experience with the Burris Fullfield HBR? If so, what is the difference between the 1 and 2?

I.B.S. rulebook can answer a lot of questions, so as long as your rifle meets the requirements, the Pecar scope will be fine.

The Burris HBR simply has "standard" windage & elevation turrets; the HBRII has not only W/E turrets, but also a 45 Deg. housing/spring, which holds the erector tube against both the W & E adjustment screws, to assure more reliable resistance to "wandering zero" (similar to a "Tuckerization'). Presuming IBS/NBRSA Hunter Class rules, the Pecar will be fine - cool scopes!RG
