HawkHill Custom Barrels

Shynloco

You can lead a horse to water, but ........
Hi Guys and Gals,
I noted a very nice rifle that was posted for sale by another member a few days ago. And I saw that the barrel on that pretty rig was manufactured by a company named Hawkhill Custom. Personally, I'd not heard of this company before and I was curious if other members may have bought their products and if so, how do their barrels compare to say Kreiger, Shilen, Lilja, Harts, Broughtons, etc? Their pricing appears to be inline with the aforementioned manufacturers of barrels. I did email them for info and received a response from Shawn Buckholder that they are not taking any orders due to being filled with existing customers and sellers of their products. So any info or responses are welcome. Thx folks!

I agree with the above post...I have installed and chambered two of them and the cut rifling looks as good as Krieger and better than most cut rifled barrels I have seen. There were zero tooling marks and both rifles shot fantastic. I would not hesitate to buy one for a personal rifle of mine if I needed one.

I have a Hawk Hill 6mm, 28", .237 bore, 4-groove for my tactical 6 Dasher (Ruger RPR). Great barrel so far. Shooting nice 5-shot groups with an ES of 4-5, going 2890 fps with Varget and 108BT, jammed 10K into the lands.

Barrel broke in nicely, it stopped coppering up after about 20-30 rounds and I would say it is in the same class as Brux and Bartlein (the only two other mfg I have used so far).

You can get them from bugholes.com, but he also mentioned that it is hard to get Hawk Hill barrels. It seems that many of the PRS guys are shooting their barrels as well.

Options are always great.

I'm with Dusty, chambered 10 of them and all good. 6mm, 6.5, 7mm and 30 cal.
Shawn is great deal with.
Got those barrels right away before Greg Young got a hold of Shawn.

I have a few and they are Great shooters. You won't go wrong. Have a 30 cal and several 6mm.

I have three rifles that wear Hawk hill barrels. Robert Gradous turned me onto them. I know Joe with OTM tactical stocks a few, so does bugholes.
All three rifles shoot and clean on par with all of the barrels you mentioned. I will be using more in the future. I'm really satisfied.

Thx for the responses Guys. So who are distributors or other sources for their barrels? Thx again.

Alex

I got lucky. I asked the same question about a year ago and just beat the rush. I got mine in a couple months. 6.5 creedmoor shoots awesome.

They are absolutely top notch barrels! No question about it. In fact I just got back from HH last week with 10 new ones. In fact I bought lunch for the crew with the hopes Shawn won't drop me as a customer :) OK, a little brown nosing doesn't hurt :) I've shot them in long range competition for a year now and am very pleased (as well as my customers) with the results I've been getting. I think he's here to stay.
