have you heared of a rem 737??

has anyone seen or used a remington 737 take down sniper rifle? i was speaking to a guy who was affiliated with the US army in nam and was apparently issued with this rifle. he was a bit sketchy on the details as he is getting on in years but he seemed to think it was in 9mm and had a night vision ' star scope' i said i would find a pic of one and he laughed and said at the time they were 'classified'.

Never heard of a 737, and only the government would want a 9mm sniper rifle.
Seems it would make a nice under 100 yard round for sniping....
If he's getting on in years he must have been pretty old in nam ......

Remington made a model 37, it preceeded the model 700. Its design was a cross between a P-14 and a Model 722. I know the army made some 45acps with short barrels and suppressors on the bolt guns with first generation night scopes.

That may clears ups some muddy waters.

thanks rusty and preacher! i didn't want to pry too much as its probably something he has spent years trying to forget.it sounds like it would be closer to the 9.3mm mauser as the rifle came in three pieces because it was too long/heavy to carry in one piece. he had used it at ranges in excess of 900yds with a spotter and pre positioned wind indicators.

Rusty,
Actually it was a 30 Express. I just happen to have one. The mod 37 Remington was a short production rimfire.
